Seminar, by Thomann-Hanry®
This seminar is for architects involved in building restoration with an interest in understanding the latest developments in cleaning external façades. It considers traditional methodology and access before introducing a modern but well-established system that does not require scaffold, towers or abseil, which does not use water or traditional chemicals or abrasives, and which significantly reduces timescales and disruption.

Thomann-Hanry® is a façade cleaning and restoration company best known for its facade gommage cleaning system. This has been chosen by government organisations, conservationists and commercial operators for cleaning buildings of national and historic importance worldwide, from The Louvre to The Kremlin. In the UK it has been used to clean many landmark buildings such as The Ritz and Australia House.

It also provides an understanding of what action can be taken to reduce plasterboard waste such as: how design and specification selection can influence plasterboard waste in terms of board selection, thicknesses and sizing; supply chain collaboration and integration to stimulate further waste reduction initiatives, and; recognising the need for supply chain collaboration and integration, to stimulate further waste reduction initiatives.

This seminar focuses on the conventional method of drywall detailing, and the flaws associated with such a process. It looks at many of the issues associated with traditional extrusion methods before going on to examine the design flexibility and benefits of using an innovative and patented product – SA Solutions’ Seamless Abutments.

SA Solutions noticed that by making a variety of abutment profiles, from glazing posts to shadow gap detailing, one could achieve joinery tolerances to drywall with a product made from plaster – up to this point unheard of within the industry. Eliminating the conventional use of extrusions, the product is produced with a leading edge and tapered portion and now forces the product to control a high quality finish. Previously, the finish of the conventional metal bead alternative was entirely dependent on the skill of the available labour force.
