Literature, by Boss Design
‘Are you sitting comfortably?’ is a white paper collaboratively written by Boss design director Mark Barrell and FIRA’s head of ergonomics, Levant Calgar. The idea behind the paper was to examine the notion that no matter how many manual adjustments or specific design features a chair has, it is only as good as the user understands it to be. A chair needs to be easy to understand, easy to use, and not too complex, simply to ensure that the person using it is doing so the way the designer and manufacturer intended.

Founded in 1983, Boss Design is one of the UK’s market leading manufacturers of high quality seating, upholstery and table solutions. The company leads by example and continues to improve on the delivery of an intelligent and evolving portfolio, while maintaining the best ethical standards. Boss Design’s heritage and ethos means that it still believes in and encourages the skill and craftsmanship of the design and manufacturing industry, through the use of both modern and traditional concepts. Boss Design has a wealth of experience in helping to enhance customers’ environments, offering choice solutions, bespoke concepts, reliability and exceptional service.
