The following CPD materials have been assessed and approved by the RIBA.

This CPD seminar aims to provide a better understanding of the basic principles of acoustics. It tackles much of the basic science of sound, looking at generation, transmission, reflection and absorption. Measurement of sound intensity and the relevant building regulations are also covered. Finally, it examines a range of different solutions to acoustic problems, from specialist ceilings to furniture.

Learning from the experiences of the former BSF (Building Schools for the Future) programme, repeatable or baseline designs are the cornerstone of the new PSBP (Priority School Building Programme) to ensure that school projects stay within budget. This seminar covers: acoustic design considerations; acoustic performance standards (PSBP 2012, BB93 and Sport England); room acoustic design (sound absorption); PSBP and repeatable acoustic design; and design, detailing, specification and BIM.
