Seminar, by Peter Cox Ltd
Condensation is one of the most pressing issues in post-war housing. This presentation reviews how it is formed, the concept of relative humidity, and the hazards of humidity and associated airborne contaminants. The benefits of 'Whole House Ventilation' and mechanical extraction units are also discussed, to help designers create low air leakage buildings.

Peter Cox Ltd is a UK market leader in damp proofing, waterproofing, timber preservation, wall stabilisation, and other specialist property treatments, with a network of regional branches across the country. The company has wide ranging experience in the repair of housing, both privately owned and public sector, as well as commercial and public buildings, churches and listed properties.

Seminar, by Colinwell Masonry
This seminar provides information about retaining walls, their benefits, technical innovations, how to build them, appropriate applications, and design and environmental considerations.

Over 100 years ago John McQuillan began quarrying limestone at Colinwell, so named because of the large natural spring that rises on the slopes of Colin Mountain on the quarry’s site. Since then the company has progressed from being a quarrying and aggregate processing company to a walling product manufacturer.

This CPD seminar provides an introduction to the use of PCM-functional products in buildings. Construction products (wall boards, plasters, ceiling systems etc) containing PCM provide a lightweight form of thermal mass, i.e. with relatively low physical mass and bulk. This seminar demonstrates how PCM products used in modern, thermally lightweight buildings minimize the energy needed for cooling and heating. It shows how they are quickly and easily installed, and are therefore convenient for retrofit as well as new build projects. Finally, it discusses how PCM-based products offer a passive approach to thermal management and can be used as an alternative to air conditioning or as part of an energy-efficient hybrid system.

With over 40 years’ experience of the market, BASF Polyurethanes UK Ltd manufactures many innovative PU products, including polyurethane systems and specialty elastomers.

This seminar explores the technical specification and design options of specifying a solid wood system. Included in the presentation are elements related to the various wood species available, sustainability and design flexibility, as well as fire and acoustic performance.

Hunter Douglas Architectural Projects specialises in the specification and manufacture of aluminium and solid wood ceiling and wall systems that are suitable for interior and exterior applications. Hunter Douglas window coverings, ceilings, sun control systems and façades have been used for more than 50 years to help create buildings that are comfortable, healthy and provide a healthy and productive environment.
