Materials

'Materials' of course covers the most fundamental building blocks of architecture. Here are eight CPD seminars representing eight different materials solutions to the designer.
Seminar, by Forticrete
A presentation which covers all the most vital aspects of designing with architectural masonry, from the importance of modular design and movement control, through structural performance, thermal insulation, sound reduction, fire resistance and much more.

Forticrete is the UK's leading manufacturer of architectural masonry products including roof tiles, aesthetic concrete blocks, cast stone walling and dressings. Founded in the late 1920s, Forticrete employs around 250 people across seven manufacturing plants, offices and depots. The company is part of CRH Plc, the international building materials group, which is based in Ireland and employs over 93,500 people in 35 countries across three core businesses: primary materials, value added building products and specialist building materials distribution.
A one-hour seminar that will help specifiers to better understand the placement and importance of fire glass. It explains the different threats of fire, the various fire class classifications, testing methods and safety standards. The ultimate aim is to help specifiers specify fire rated glass.

Vetrotech Saint-Gobain is Europe's leading manufacturer of specialist fire resisting glass. All Vetrotech glass has an 'A' safety rating and is UV stable. It also meets British Standards (BS), European Norm (EN) requirements for Integrity (E) and Integrity and Insulation (EI). Vetrotech Saint-Gobain pushes technological boundaries in its bid to offer products that are far superior to its competitors.
Seminar, by Booth Muirie
This seminar sets out to educate and inform the audience on the make-up, composition, and application of metal composite materials, and aluminium composite materials in a cladding environment. It covers those details which, in many years of conversations with specifiers, seems to most influence the understanding of the products.

Booth Muirie has gained national recognition for the provision of specialist cladding services including design, manufacturing and distribution. With a strong awareness of market demands and a progressive, forward thinking approach to ever-evolving design trends, Booth Muirie has positioned itself as a highly respected specialist company within the construction industry.
Seminar, by Q-railing
Q-railing's CPD helps architects understand the benefits of stainless steel modular railing and balustrade systems. It focuses on the aesthetic potential of stainless steel, the flexibility of modular design, material performance, assembly techniques, and the importance of quality, safety, standards and regulations.

Learners can see how well-engineered stainless steel modular handrail and balustrade systems compliment architectural design and function; understand assembly and installation of modular systems and examine building regulations and the difference in stainless steel grades.

Q-railing designs, manufactures and supplies a range of premium railing systems and handrails. The company's modular approach to railings facilitates limitless design possibilities. Elements from any product line can be combined to create the exact look you want. Special attention is paid to installation at the design process, to ensure systems are simple to put together and can be installed without the need for specialist tools or labourers.
Seminar, by REHAU Ltd
