Window blinds

Window blinds provide a highly effective – and energy efficient – means of temperature control. The seminars below demonstrate how this can be achieved in a very design-friendly way.
Sun control is a sustainable solution designed to help building operators manage internal temperatures, as well as light and glare levels. Today’s intelligent sun control systems also offer huge design potential, with static, dynamic, or automated systems that move intuitively to control thermal gain.

Started in 1919, Hunter Douglas’ core business is the design and manufacture of façades, ceilings and sun control systems, primarily in aluminium but increasingly in other materials too. The group is a global market leader in window coverings and blinds and operates in 164 countries worldwide.
Seminar, by MechoSystems
Discusses how to achieve optimum solar protection from heat and glare, what screencloths do and how performance fabrics work, and how colour and openness factor affect performance. Also covers the different types of motorisation and automation available, including real-time window management systems which automatically adjust shade position according to the Sun’s position, while maximising daylight and views.

MechoSystems designs and manufactures solar roller systems, screencloths, smart quiet motors and window management daylighting control systems. Their products are designed to work on all types of building.
Seminar, by Silent Gliss Ltd
This seminar provides an introduction to the increased importance of solar protection, particularly in the workplace, identifying key aspects by European legislation. A focus on internal solutions including available systems, roller, Roman, vertical and Venetian blind systems, as well as the effect of different screen fabrics on factors such as solar gain, natural light, eye comfort and heat protection.

Silent Gliss is one of the world’s leading suppliers of window treatments for both contract and domestic interiors. It aims to introduce the most innovative solutions to challenging glazing designs for windows and room divisions, to create a perfect balance of light.
