Seminar, by Bushboard Limited
A guide to how laminate performance wall surfaces have developed to become a recognised alternative to tiles for commercial and residential applications. This seminar includes a review of their pros and cons, design considerations, advantages of installation speed and ease of ongoing maintenance.

Bushboard Ltd has been developing beautiful surfaces since 1935. Its superior panelling collection is transforming commercial bathroom design. While the use of laminated panels as an alternative to tiling is nothing new, Nuance raises the bar by delivering a range that offers fabulous design and desirability. One hundred per cent waterproof, factory-finished edges, no trims, fabulous to look at and up to six times faster to install than tile, Nuance is fast becoming the specifier's first choice for performance wall surfacing.

This seminar provides an overview of thermal bridging, discussing the reasons why it occurs as well as how it can be prevented. It also compares building details with and without thermal break solutions, to highlight the importance of determining accurate values of thermal transmittance.

Thermal bridging is a significant factor in building energy loss. By reducing heat flow through the thermal envelope, we reduce energy consumption, as well as prevent potential condensation issues. Building codes now require building enclosures to have ‘continuous insulation’ without thermal bridging. Thermal breaks dramatically reduce heat loss in wall assemblies, transitions and structural connections. They can minimize building energy loss and improve envelope performance.

Armatherm has been proven – through three-dimensional modelling – to reduce heat loss in wall assemblies, transitions and structural connections throughout the building envelope.

Armatherm solutions can be used anywhere a penetration or transition exists in the building envelope, creating a thermal bridge. Applications include balcony, canopy, parapet, masonry shelf angle, cladding/Z-girt connections and wall-to-foundation transitions. Improvements in the effective U value of wall assemblies can be as much as 70%.

Armadillo Noise & Vibration is a collaborative, design-build partner that can assist in determining the extent of thermal bridging heat loss on building envelope performance, including thermal modelling and connection design calculations.
