Seminar, by Lundhs AS
The composition of natural stone tells us a lot about the abilities of the materials, and is important to know if one is to specify the right materials for a project. This seminar includes details on the formation and properties of a wide range of natural stones, different surfaces and applications, and how natural stone is quarried and tested.

Lundhs was founded in 1962 and operates quarries in the south of Norway that boast unique resources. Materials are exported and widely used throughout the world. Still family owned, Lundhs is one of the largest quarry owners in Northern Europe and frequently collaborates with architects and specifiers by providing technical support and knowledge about natural stone.

Modern façades are becoming more complex, and often combine different types of cladding. There is a recognised need for a more detailed, structured and collaborative approach to rainscreen cladding support systems specification, procurement and installation. Fluent communications between the architect, specialist cladding contractor and the material and rainscreen support systems manufacturer is crucial. It’s a serious business and support systems need to be ‘fit for purpose’. This CPD module discusses what needs to be considered to realise a safe and optimum rainscreen cladding support structure, and presents an approach that takes into account both the specifier’s and installer’s needs.

NVELOPE – Part of International SFS Intec – is a UK manufacturer of rainscreen cladding support systems based on NV Vertical and NH Horizontal helping hand brackets and a full range of NVELOPE vertically- and horizontally-fixed profiles. NVELOPE can be used to support any type of façade material, from fibre cement to ACM.

NVELOPE will assist with static calculations, systems optimisation £/m2 rates and thermal values.
