Polyurethane Spray Foam is used extensively in Europe and North America, where it is a popular material with many varied applications. Demand for energy savings and reduced carbon emissions mean that Polyurethane Spray Foam is starting to be considered as a viable option over other conventional insulation systems. This presentation compares the benefits of Polyurethane Spray Foam over other traditional insulation materials, typical problems associated with poor or incorrect insulation, defects which can arise through time, impact of air tightness, cost considerations, energy performance and case studies.

BASF Polyurethanes UK manufactures and markets polyurethane systems in the UK. It is part of BASF ‘The Chemical Company’, producing intelligent system solutions and high value products for a number of industries globally.

Seminar, by NorDan UK Ltd
This seminar looks at the term ‘sustainability’ and how it can be assessed within building design with reference to the Code for Sustainable Homes. Timber windows are then discussed in detail, examining both embodied energy and energy efficiency over the product's lifespan, through full life-cycle analysis. Various high performance window designs are examined and compared for optimal sustainable benefits and environmental impacts.

NorDan UK supplies high performance, energy saving and sustainable windows and doors, made from PEFC certified timber and incorporating aluminium cladding. Whole window U-values are from as low as 0.7 W/m2K with the NTech 0.7 range. A range of products also has ‘Secured by Design’ accreditation, the initiative supporting the principles of reducing crime via the use of effective design.
