Different types of synthetic resin have differing in-service performance. The considerations that affect the selection of each type are described in this seminar. These include: type of loading (static or dynamic) and severity of impact; details of any chemicals that may come into contact with the floor; temperature range that the flooring will be required to withstand in normal service, or as part of cleaning operations; colour, uniformity and retention, aesthetics and decorative effects; compliance with hygiene or food industry requirements (including ease of cleaning); any special requirements, such as slip resistance or static controlled characteristics; life expectancy of the flooring; moisture content of the substrate; time available for the application and curing of the flooring and, of course; cost.
