This seminar examines why stormwater management is so important, environmentally and politically. The main principles – replicating nature and dealing with rain where it falls – include the replenishment of ground water and the improvement of water quality. This presentation discusses SUDs, including issues to be aware of and how to overcome them, as well as the importance of good design and installation.

Graf UK works with numerous attenuation and infiltration systems and has learned which is best for particular applications, when to use different systems, and how to identify the most cost-effective solution.

This course, one of many online advanced courses available from the Sustainable Development Institute, examines the intersection of the overlapping fields of sustainable design and public health, with an eye for trends that are likely to guide good design decisions in coming decades. Understanding the impacts of human health on green building is a growing trend in the larger sustainable design movement, with old and new organisations leading the way, from Google to the Health Product Declaration Collaborative. Students from all backgrounds are welcome, including students and practitioners who are working in green building and would like to learn more about public health issues, and/or those with a public health or other type of health background who would like to learn more about green building.

This seminar looks at the specification of windows, and in particular UPVC windows. It examines how the windows market has changed over the years – looking at past, present and future window specifications and requirements – and how UPVC windows are appropriate in specialist applications e.g. zero carbon developments. Finally, it discusses future developments within the window industry, and how companies are future-roofing their systems.
