Sustainable architecture

The following CPD materials fall within the ‘Sustainable architecture’ RIBA Core Curriculum topic (and may also fall within other core curriculum topics too). Chartered members are obliged to undertake a minimum of 20 of their yearly 35 hours CPD from this curriculum, with two hours of CPD time in each of ten key topics. Examines how contract fabrics might be made more sustainable through the replacement or removal of certain chemicals as an alternative to high-volume, commercially produced fabric. In addition to answering the question, ‘What makes a contract fabric?’ this seminar explains how to distinguish between harmful and beneficial added chemistry, which fabrics are best from a sustainability point of view, and explores current and future developments in biomimicry and fabric design.

A practical guide to solar technology and buildings. Covers: the terminology used in connection with solar systems; building-integrated and building-applied methods; how to identify when to integrate and when to apply solar systems; the different photovoltaic cell technologies available; and, installation.
