The following CPD materials have been assessed and approved by the RIBA.
Seminar, by AluK (GB) Ltd
Adoption of BIM level 2 is required on all government-funded projects by 2016. This CPD seminar aims to provide an overview of building information modelling, as well as an understanding of how product manufacturers fit into the process – particularly façade systems.

AluK (GB) Ltd is a leading supplier of aluminium glazing systems for curtain walling, window and door products. This CPD seminar provides a guide to the use of phase change materials in buildings, where PCM-containing products can be used to buffer room temperature and reduce or eliminate the need for air conditioning, thereby saving energy, improving comfort and reducing overheating. Samples of currently available PCM-containing building products (wallboards, ceiling tiles etc) will also be shown.

This seminar introduces External Wall Insulation (EWI) and explains the need to insulate the UK’s existing housing stock to meet CO2 reduction targets. Focussing on how structural EWI can extend the life of defective, hard-to-treat, non-traditional properties and high-rise buildings, it also highlights the wide range of system top coats available, from traditional to contemporary finishes.

Founded in 1983, Hanson Building Products’ Structherm is one of the UK’s leading experts in the external refurbishment of defective, non-traditional social housing and high rise buildings. It is renowned for its unique ‘Structural External Wall Insulation’ (SEWI) system, which is manufactured at its factory in West Yorkshire. The SEWI system offers designers and specifiers many benefits beyond those provided by standard EWI systems.
