This seminar focuses on two aspects of door and access design: disabled access in relation to Approved Document M and BS8300, and fire doors in general and BS 476: Part 22 and BS EN 1634-1:2008 (European Normative Standard). On both subjects it provides simple and practical advice on the often ‘hard to apply’ regulations, themed around doors in wet and hygienic facilities.

This seminar deals with general Building Regulations issues involving reveals at windows and doors, including specification solutions, heat loss and weather rating concerns, fire safety considerations, cavity width variations, and environmental considerations.

This seminar introduces electronic locking systems. It includes information and advice on current and past technologies and how they have developed, as well as providing a glimpse into the future, including card technologies and methods used to protect the information contained within ‘key’ cards. Also covered are certifications: those that are mandatory and those that are ‘good to have’. On-line and off-line locking solutions and the integration possibilities with other systems are also discussed.

This seminar looks at the different types of glazing available on the market and provides an insight into the advantages and disadvantages of each. It then focuses on two main framing styles – timber and timber/aluminium – and looks at manufacturing methods and how the industry is trying to keep ahead of building standards.

This seminar aims to provide specifiers with an understanding of sliding and folding door hardware, and how to specify it correctly. The seminar also runs through the legislation and certification that influences the design and manufacture of sliding door hardware, including Parts M and L, as well as issues with fire doors and emergency exits.
