Classified as machines under the European Machinery Directive, automatic doors are covered by regulation EN 16005, which sets out the standards and specifications required when operating and maintaining door-sets, their protective devices and safety systems. This seminar helps the specifier to understand the legislation, danger points and safety requirements covering sliding, swing, folding and revolving doors.

In addition to record uk’s classic sliding, swing and revolving doors, its range includes thermally-efficient designs, extra security features for prevention of burglary or forced entry, toughened glass entrances, hermetically-sealed units for sound insulation or hygienic environments, and doors with fire protection and specialist cores. record uk also offers bespoke solutions to help turn visionary and architecturally-inspired designs into reality.

Covering everything from legislation and best practice to benefits and installation requirements, this presentation discusses how and why balconies should be considered for new build and refurbishment projects across the UK. Using research taken from the colder climes of Sweden, it also shows how fully-glazed balconies can have a positive impact on affordable warmth, passive surveillance and property value.

Started in 1987 by an inspired Swedish engineer with nothing but a bicycle for transport, Balco has grown to develop and deliver award-winning balconies across Europe, featuring the company’s own unique patents. Balco’s in-house architectural advisor works alongside clients to design the perfect balcony, producing a CGI of the finished product before precision-engineering it in Balco’s own factory.
