RIBA CPD Showcase

Space heating

The following CPD materials have all been assessed and approved by the RIBA.
Seminar, by Mannok Build
An overview of thermal bridging solutions and how to reduce heat loss at key junctions in the building envelope. This seminar covers the following subject areas: the definition of thermal conductivity (K-value), thermal resistance (R-value), and U-value; what a thermal bridge is; different types of thermal bridge; psi- and y-values, and when to use them; how to combat thermal bridging, and; how to substantially reduce the need for renewables.

Quinn Building Products is a division of Quinn Industrial Holdings and is one of the UK and Ireland’s most diverse and experienced manufacturers of construction products. Established in the 1970s, Quinn Building Products manufactures a wide range of premium building materials, including high-performance rigid insulation, aerated thermal blocks, cement, hollow-core precast flooring and stair systems, as well as a range of related aggregate building products.

Approximate duration excluding time for questions/answers: 45 minutes.
Seminar, by Stelrad Radiators
This seminar provides guidance on the use of low surface temperature steel panel radiators for space heating, with reference to their working principles, the requirement for safety in public, healthcare and education applications, and relevant regulations and standards. It also raises awareness of LSTs – Low Surface Temperature radiators – for safe space heating in healthcare, schools, and other public buildings.

Complying with legislation in the heating sector, and ensuring safety for all, is straightforward when you take advantage of the carefully designed radiator options available today. Making radiators ‘safe to touch’ is a key part of the process and utilising a secure and tamperproof casing for the radiators, which covers the radiator and all pipework, is a sensible approach. Stelrad helps architects and specifiers to achieve this.

Approximate duration excluding time for questions/answers: one hour.
