This presentation explores the role of antimicrobial copper within good healthcare design, with particular focus on the risks that touch surfaces present. It assesses the antimicrobial characteristics of copper and copper alloys, reviewing scientific proof and clinical evidence, and the cost-effectiveness of antimicrobial copper touch surfaces. It also features examples of installations and demonstrates how to effectively specify antimicrobial copper products.

Copper in Architecture is an educational programme for architects supported by the Copper Development Association, a non-profit making trade association that supports and promotes copper usage in the UK and Ireland for major and developing applications.

Seminar, by Pergo
This seminar looks at the construction and manufacturing process of commercial laminate to Class 34 standard. Also discussed are slip resistance and test methods used to obtain this standard, including abrasion and impact resistance. Finally, it examines installation details and provides relevant case studies.

Seminar, by Ventive
This seminar includes a description of current ventilation strategies and their impact on energy use, the energy saving and other advantages of passive ventilation over mechanical ventilation technologies, and case study examples.

Ventive manufactures passive ventilation systems with heat recovery that it claims are superior to mechanical systems or trickle vents. Recovering heat from outgoing stale air and transferring it to incoming fresh air, it works by using wind and natural buoyancy for a passive airflow. Ventive has no moving parts to break down and requires no energy to run; it is simple, quiet, non-intrusive and extremely cost-effective.
