We all see adverts for new cars that quote carbon emissions and fuel efficiency figures, and are similarly aware of the recent emissions scandal surrounding a major car manufacturer and its diesel engines. Disparities such as this, on any scale, point to a performance gap.

There is an increasing body of evidence that our built environment suffers a similar problem. Various studies examining differences between the energy efficiency of buildings ‘as designed’ and the actual ‘as-built’ performance have shown that, in extreme cases, heat losses from both domestic and non-domestic buildings are as much as three times greater than anticipated.

This seminar discusses effective ways in which to reduce that performance gap.

Examines how high-quality sound solutions may be included in aesthetically-sensitive projects with zero visual intrusion. The VPT (Vibrational Panel Technology) used allows speakers to be made as flat panels and installed into walls or ceilings and then rendered invisible by covering them with either a plaster skim, wood, leather, or other materials.

Amina Technologies designs and manufactures invisible loudspeakers from its base in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire. The company invented the plaster-over loudspeaker in 2001, working closely to meet the requirement of a major German bank. In subsequent years, that product evolved into the high-quality room-filling sound solution now available, which can be used behind a multitude of wall finishes.
