Places, planning and communities
The following RIBA-approved CPD materials fall within the RIBA core curriculum topic ‘Places, planning and communities’ (and may fall within other core curriculum topics as well). This covers the legal, regulatory and policy frameworks for creating successful urban and rural places, and the relevant planning processes and procedures. It also includes having the knowledge and skills to create successful buildings, within the context of neighbourhoods, towns and cities.

Secured by Design focuses on crime prevention for homes and commercial premises and promotes security standards for a wide range of applications and products. These principles have been proven to reduce crime risk by up to 60%, by combining standards of physical security and principles of surveillance and defensible space.
Explains the basic structure of different geotextiles and how changes to those structures can impact performance properties. Also examines UK and European regulatory frameworks, geotextile testing methods and how test results should be interpreted against performance.
